THE HARVEST MOON

 I can't wait for autumn to arrive.  This season never fails to dazzle me with its rich vibrant colors as the landscapes all around me turned into many shades of red, yellow, orange, and brown.  It brings back so many good memories of picking pumpkins, tackling the crazy maze in the cornfields, and other fun things that go with this season.

FISHERMAN'S  COVE 

Here is my latest painting inspired by my favorite seaside town of Peggy's Cove, a small historic fishing village in Nova Scotia.

If ever you have the chance to visit eastern Canada, be sure to include this town in your itinerary.  This small picturesque town was founded in 1811 when German settlers were given land grants by the government of Nova Scotia.  These settlers mostly earned their living as fishermen, but they also farmed areas that were fertile and pastured cattle.  Today it is one of Nova Scotia’s favourite tourist destinations, tourism has surpassed the fishing industry as the main source of income in this town after the Second World War, but lobster fishing is still practiced here.

STEVESTON LANDING

STEVESTON LANDING

Steveston is a very old fishing village in our neighborhood of Richmond, B.C.  It is a historic site with many quaint houses and shops.  During summer visitors flock to Steveston's waterfront boardwalks to enjoy the scenery, food, and buskers.  Kids specially enjoy feeding the resident swans and gulls. 

Right on the docks, many local fishermen sell their catch of the day directly out of their boats.  The use of colorful signboards to call buyers' attention has become a tradition.

Steveston is also known as "The Gateway to the Orca," with a very active whale watching industry shuttling boatloads of tourists and locals out to the sea to observe the orcas, seals, and eagles.   It is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth and I'm glad to call it home.
